Toffee is a sweet three-year-old Poodle looking for a calm and understanding home after coming from a large-scale hoarding situation. As he has had limited exposure to everyday life, new people, unfamiliar places and household noises can initially feel overwhelming for him. Toffee will need patient adopters who are happy to let him progress at his own pace, using gentle encouragement and positive reinforcement to help build his confidence. He is looking for a quiet home with a private garden, limited visitors while he settles in and any resident or regularly visiting children should be of secondary school age. He can feel worried by formal handling and being picked up, so his new family will need to respect his space and continue helping him feel more comfortable with these experiences.

Once Toffee begins to trust you, his affectionate and playful personality starts to shine through. He loves his toys, especially his pink dinosaur, and is happy entertaining himself or enjoying a gentle game with someone he knows. He will also ask for affection by offering a paw or nudging your hand and has started following his foster carer around the home with a waggy tail. Toffee is still learning that walks, car journeys and new experiences can be enjoyable, so these will need to be introduced slowly and carefully. He may take a little longer to settle than some dogs, but watching him gain confidence and discover the world around him will be an incredibly rewarding journey.
