Audrey's ideal home

Audrey is a three-year-old Poodle cross looking for an understanding home where she can gently discover the world at her own pace. Having had a very sheltered start to life, Audrey would thrive in a quieter residential or rural setting where things move a little more slowly and she can build confidence without feeling overwhelmed. A home with a secure garden is essential so she can enjoy time both indoors and outdoors while she gradually learns about lead walking and adventures beyond the home. Audrey would love to live with another friendly dog who can show her the ropes. Patient adopters who are happy to introduce new experiences slowly will help her flourish, and she could live with sensible secondary school-aged children who can learn to read her body language. Initially she would benefit from a household with only occasional visitors while she gains confidence, and her adopters should be prepared to continue her training, including house training and helping her feel comfortable with things like car travel.

Despite her shy side, Audrey is affectionately known by her handlers as an ‘angel girl’. She is very sweet, gentle and playful once she feels comfortable, choosing to approach people in her own time when they give her space. Audrey gets on wonderfully with other dogs, happily sharing her space and resources and enjoying relaxed play with her friends. While toys can make her nervous at the moment, her confidence may well grow as she settles into home life. One thing she absolutely loves is food - we’ve yet to find a treat she doesn’t like! With a kind, patient family who can open up her world bit by bit, Audrey could blossom into a lovely companion.
