About This Dog for Adoption

Ernie's ideal home

Ernie is one-year-old Spaniel cross Poodle looking for a loving home. He could potentially share his home with another dog or be equally as happy as the only dog in the home. He would like doggy pals to socialise with when out and about. He is playful with other dogs. Ernie will need a home without cats or small furries and care may be needed around livestock. He is housetrained. He is happy to travel in the car. Ernie will need his walks to be away from roads and traffic as he is worried by passing vehicles, including people riding bikes. Ernie has been okay with being left alone in the home for a few hours at a time if this is built up gradually. Ernie could cope with a reasonably busy household.
This dog is currently being rehomed under our Home Stay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when the ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Home Stay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with the owners to minimise the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative dog.

Could you be Ernie's perfect match?

Fantastic Ernie is an energetic boy who is full of fun! He loves to play with toys; his favourites are balls and soft toys. He loves to pick them up and do zoomies with them. Ernie can swap one toy for another to be thrown. He enjoys going for long walks on the beach, in the woods, and across the countryside. He is a smart cookie and loves to learn. He already knows a sit and paw, but why not teach him some new skills using positive reward training, great for mental stimulation! Ernie is an affectionate boy; he gives the best snuggles and has the most adorable bum-wiggle when he greets you.

Poodle Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Poodle.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Poodle Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
