About This Dog for Adoption

Woody's ideal home

Meet Woody! He’s quite possibly one of the most intelligent dogs that we’ve ever worked with here at Shoreham. If you’ve got an interest in reward-based training and are looking for a ‘project dog’ whose life you can fill with joy, then Woody may just be the dog for you. He originally came into the care of Dogs Trust due to showing aggression around handling and resources, so our Training Team have been teaching him various life skills that will help to manage these behaviours. A separate area of the home where he can go to eat meals, or when relaxing, is essential. Woody requires an adult-only home, with patient adopters who can make multiple visits to our rehoming centre until they’ve formed a sufficient bond, and so that they can learn all about his various training plans. Woody is happy to walk alongside other dogs of a calm nature so long as they don’t intrude his personal space. He will need to be the only dog at home and is also unable to live with any cats, house rabbits or guinea pigs. Rather than attend the groomers, Woody will require his new family to be on board with grooming him themselves. This is because he has a specific routine for handling and feels much more comfortable with his most-trusted people. He’ll also need a multi-carer household for this same reason. A garden of his own is essential. Woody has some medical needs, which could lead to additional costs. We will discuss this further if your application is shortlisted.

Could you be Woody's perfect match?

Nine-year-old Woody is certainly one of a kind. While he’s only a small chap, his larger-than-life character lights up a room! Don’t let Woody’s age fool you, he has plenty energy and loves to keep busy! When he’s not showing off all his amazing tricks to his favourite people, Woody enjoys playing a game of tug or fetch with a cuddly toy or sniffing about on adventures. He’s an excellent traveller in the car, which will be a great benefit to his future family. It may take some time and patience before you’ve earned Woody’s trust, but getting to know him will be worth your wait. This sensitive chap may never be a cuddly lap dog, but you’ll have secured a best buddy for life. If you would like more information about adopting any of our dogs, or you are considering a variety of dogs and would like our team’s help to find your pawfect match, we would love you to visit us at our rehoming centre to chat with us in person. We are open between 12pm and 4pm every day, except for Wednesdays and Fridays when we are closed.
